Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told about one interesting way of planting tomatoes.
When to start
It costs absolutely nothing to try planting tomatoes in mid-November.
Especially if the warm weather helps. The main thing is to do it before the frost sets in.
How to proceed
1. You need to choose a suitable place for the future garden bed.
2. Then make holes 15-20 cm deep and place a whole tomato in each.
3. Sprinkle the tomatoes with dry soil, compact the soil slightly, mulch the beds with leaves in a layer of at least 15 cm and cover with a net or spunbond to prevent the wind from scattering the leaves.
4. In spring, when the snow grows and the soil begins to warm up, you need to remove the leaves. By this time, the first shoots may appear, which need to be protected from frost.
Then the seedlings can be transplanted or left in the garden bed. They say that tomato bushes grown using this method are more resistant to diseases and cold.
