More and more often, owners of private houses choose a decorative pond to decorate their property.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the basic rules that should be followed if you want to maintain the attractiveness of an artificial reservoir.
What to do in spring
As spring approaches, you are faced with the task of making sure that the pond remains as functional as before.
Hurry to remove the ice and then get rid of the debris. Use a brush or a specially designed sludge vacuum to clean the walls and bottom.
Be sure to check that all equipment is working properly and that there are no cracks or other damage on the walls or bottom.
How to care in summer
During June, July and August you will be tasked with maintaining normal water levels.
If the pond on the site boasts lush vegetation, protect it from pests using insecticides. This should be done in such a way that hazardous substances do not end up in the water.
What to take care of in autumn
Think about how to protect the pond from falling leaves. A good option is special protective nets.
Pay attention to your plants as well – perhaps some of them need special preparation for winter.
What you shouldn't miss in winter
If the depth of the reservoir is 50-70 cm, then for the winter it is drained and then covered with film.
