Every gardener who has ever grown ornamental bulbous plants probably knows about the methods of their propagation.
We will talk about one of them today, or more precisely, about an interesting method of reproduction using scales.
As a result of its use, you will be able to quickly obtain ready-made plants that are guaranteed to grow strong and healthy and will delight their owner with beautiful flowering.
To do this, in July-August, break the bulbs of lilies and hyacinths into scales.
After this, place them in a bag where you need to add charcoal powder.
Shake the bag gently, mix it with peat or moss, which should be slightly moistened beforehand, and tie the bag tightly so that there is still air inside.
Now you can take the package with valuable contents to a semi-dark room with an air temperature of approximately +20 degrees. Here it should lie for 3 months.
After the specified time, you will find that a large number of small bulbs have formed, which need to be planted in containers filled with soil and sent to the balcony until spring.
In the spring, boxes with future lilies and hyacinths can be moved to the dacha, and in the fall you will have fully formed bulbs on your hands. All that remains is to plant the flowers in their designated places.
