Unfortunately, aphids appearing out of nowhere on currants are a very common occurrence.
In such a situation, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises using preparations specially created for the purpose of destroying aphids.
Among them are Karbofos, Aktara, Iskra and others.
If you don’t trust “chemistry”, pay attention to folk methods of getting rid of aphids, which can also boast of no less effectiveness.
In first place, perhaps, is a soap solution, for the preparation of which you will need to dissolve 300 g of laundry soap in a bucket of water.
Another worthy option is an ash solution. In this case, in addition to 100 g of soap, you need to add 2 cups of ash to a bucket of water.
Finally, you can prepare a solution based on ammonia – you will need the same bucket of water, 100 g of soap and a bottle of ammonia.
Please note: regardless of which method of aphid control you choose, when treating currants, you should pay special attention to the lower part of the leaves, where aphid colonies most often settle.
