If you notice that the rose petals, still tightly compressed in the buds, seem to be “gnawed”, then malicious pests have probably settled in your flowerbed.
Such damage is a sign that thrips are infesting the rose garden, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert at the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer.
If you notice such defects on your rose bushes, you should immediately launch a rescue operation.
If you sit back and do nothing, you will, unfortunately, not be able to enjoy the blooming of roses this year.
At the first signs of damage, it is worth treating all flowers and buds, paying special attention to light-colored roses.
For this purpose, preparations are suitable, the instructions for which state that they are effective against thrips.
One of such compositions is the insectoacaricide "Masai".
Please note: one treatment is not enough. Rose bushes must be treated at least 3 times, keeping an interval of 5-7 days. In this case, different preparations must be used.
After this, the treatment should be carried out as usual, every 2 weeks.
