How to treat raspberries from bedbugs: effective methods of control

20.06.2023 19:39

There is no need to tell what one bug can do to a raspberry harvest. The berries will look little different from others, but they will be impossible to eat.

At the same time, the bug does not pose a particular threat to agriculture, so it is not possible to find any special preparations to protect raspberries from the bug.

In this regard, folk tricks and broad-spectrum insect repellents will help.

Folk remedies

Gardeners practice spraying raspberries with wormwood infusion or onion peel decoction. Mustard powder solution is often used.

Each of these remedies is effective in its own way, but only if used regularly.

You can also plant the perennial plant black cohosh (cimicifuga) in the raspberries.

Chemicals

As already mentioned, there are no special preparations against bedbugs yet, but before the plants start to bloom, they can be treated with Karbofos, Kemifos, Khelfos, Actellic or Alatar.

Biological agents

In nature, the bedbug has no enemies for obvious reasons. The only ones who don't care what the bedbug smells like are bacteria. So you can treat it with the bacteriological preparation "Bitoxibacillin".

But the preparation has a rather unpleasant smell, so it is not worth treating ripening berries.

Traps

In this case, it would be better to use pheromone traps. They attract insects with a smell, but once the insect is inside, it will not be able to get out.
