Many gardeners think that acidic soil is harmful for cucumbers, which cannot develop and grow.
In an attempt to combat acid, gardeners add flour, ash and eggshells, which makes the soil alkaline.
In fact, cucumbers like slightly acidic soil with a pH of 4.5-5 – this allows the soil to absorb microelements and water.
If the soil is not acidic enough, you can use citric acid. But before that, you need to check the acidity of the soil.
If you don’t have litmus paper, take half a glass of water, two tablespoons of soil from the area and one tablespoon of 9% vinegar.
Throw the soil into a glass and stir it, then add vinegar. If there is no reaction, the soil is acidic.
