Not all fertilizers are equally useful - some of them, on the contrary, are detrimental to the strong turnip, its bright taste and aroma, and also have a negative impact on storage.
We are talking about organic matter – manure, bird droppings, etc.
Such fertilizer will harm not only onions, but also garlic. Why? The reason is simple.
It turns out that the result of adding any organic matter is the growth of vegetative mass due to the part that is hidden underground.
So, you might be impressed by the green feathers growing in your garden, but you certainly won't be pleased by the turnips.
And the feathers, frankly speaking, will taste watery – too juicy and also brittle.
There is no need to even talk about the “aroma” or taste.
This does not mean that organic fertilizers are completely banned - no, you can apply them, but only in the fall, when preparing for planting.
