When someone gets a houseplant, they expect that from now on their green pet will delight them with lush flowering and fleshy emerald foliage.
However, sometimes it happens that instead of lush greenery, something with yellow foliage is erected above the pot. The reasons for this phenomenon were described by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Leaves may dry out and turn yellow due to improper maintenance of indoor plants.
Perhaps the main deviation from the norm is the lack of light. In this case, the leaves will lose color and become pale, while their shoots will stretch upward.
The way out of this situation is very simple - move the pots to a sunny windowsill or use a phytolamp.
However, direct sunlight is no less dangerous for plants. Because of this, burns appear on the leaves. Rearrangement or a thin curtain on the window will help to avoid such trouble.
Another reason for yellowing leaves is the location of the flowerpot in a draft. Try not to leave flowers under the air conditioner or near an open window.
Temperature changes, no matter in which direction, can also cause leaves to turn yellow.
To eliminate the problem, you will have to leave the flower alone for a while, stop using fertilizers, and protect it from temperature fluctuations.
Another common cause of yellow foliage is the wrong size pot.
If the pot is too big, the free space is filled with moisture, which causes the roots to rot. And, conversely, in a small pot, the flower simply does not have enough nutrients, which also negatively affects the overall condition of the plant.
