To ensure that roses bloom at their best, they need to be provided with a constant source of nutrients.
Therefore, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh has compiled a list of fertilizers that can be used to feed roses in May.
Of course, you can use mineral compounds for this purpose, but today we are not talking about them – let’s talk about organics.
So, the first thing to mention on this list is compost, which helps plants to be healthier and more resistant to pests and diseases.
To do this, at the beginning of the last month of spring, cover the base of the rooted rose bushes with a 5-10 cm layer of compost.
Roses can also be mulched with rotted manure, especially horse manure – in this case, a layer 5 cm thick is sufficient.
The main thing is that the manure is well-aged, otherwise the plants may suffer from burns.
As an option, use manure teas, which gardeners call solutions prepared on the basis of mullein and green fermented fertilizers.
It is also worth taking care of the growth of roots and flowers next year. To do this, use bone meal in your rose garden in the spring.
