Not all fertilizers and methods of their application are useful and safe for eggplants.
For example, there is one fertilizer that can not only harm plants, but also deprive the harvest of “eggplants”.
Dangerous fertilizer
Plants should not be fertilized with fresh manure. In fresh fertilizer, nitrogen is not present in a bound state.
Bacteria and other microorganisms that initiate the process of decomposition of manure also use nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, including that found in the soil. It turns out that fresh manure does not fertilize plants, but deprives plants of key substances.
Incompletely digested plant residues present in fresh manure are often absorbed by the roots in the form of proteins. This leads to deformation of the plants. They grow weak and are susceptible to diseases.
The minimum period that must pass after receiving the manure is 3 weeks.
How to fertilize eggplants
The plant likes many organic fertilizers. For example, summer residents use:
- compost;
- humus;
- wood ash.
But it is important to remember that eggplants are fed directly under the root. Do not spray fertilizers on the leaves or stem.
