Many organic waste items can be added to the compost pile right away.
Examples: fallen leaves, used tea or coffee, banana peels and eggshells.
But there are a few types of waste that shouldn't end up in your compost bin or bin too early.
These leftovers are suitable for composting, but require some pre-treatment.
Cardboard
Thick paper can be sent to the compost heap.
But before this, the material must be finely ground. Otherwise, the decomposition process will be too slow.
Tree branches
The same should be done with excess shoots that were removed from trees and shrubs.
Sick plants
If there are signs of any diseases on the picked greenery, the mass should be burned.
In other words, you should not use the plants, but the ash obtained from them.
Weeds
These flora representatives must be freed from excess moisture before adding to the compost bin.
Drying in the sun for several days will be sufficient.
Sawdust
These wood particles do not require any special “processing”.
But two important rules must be observed. First, there should be little sawdust. Second, it is desirable to distribute it evenly throughout the compost heap.
