Fruit tree treatment alone is not enough. Experienced gardeners suggest that the best option is complex protection.
Even if preventive treatment is carried out on time, additional protection in the form of trapping belts will not hurt.
Not every summer resident is in a hurry to take advantage of this advice. Some ignore it, others prefer folk designs. Here is just one such example.
If for some reason it is not possible to place a sticky belt on the tree trunk, you can make a trap yourself.
This will require a simple set of ingredients that anyone, even a novice gardener, can find.
How to cook
You can make a protective paste without leaving your summer cottage.
To do this you will need:
- vegetable oil;
- salt;
- wood ash (soot).
Salt and ash are mixed in approximately equal proportions, and vegetable oil is added to the finished mixture in such a quantity that a moderately thick paste is obtained.
Next, the tree trunk is treated with the composition at the very base.
They say that even the nimblest ants won't be able to get through the sticky mass.
