Rarely does a feast go by without tomatoes – fresh, salted, soaked or dried.
Every summer resident tries to grow tomatoes on his plot, so that later he can prepare culinary masterpieces from them or complement main dishes.
Any gardener knows that growing tomatoes is not as easy as it seems at first glance.
Several months pass from sowing seeds to harvesting. During this time, a number of tasks must be completed. Among them are picking and subsequent fertilizing.
When to feed tomatoes
Tomatoes are not fed immediately after picking. There are several sure signs that it is time to do this:
1. After picking, 2-3 new leaves appeared on the stem.
2. At least 10 days have passed.
3. In a week, the plants will be planted in open ground or a greenhouse.
How to feed tomatoes
The most reliable and win-win option is special fertilizers for tomatoes, which are available in gardening stores. For example, this could be superphosphate, potassium nitrate or urea.
Folk remedies
In 10 liters of water dissolve a handful of wood ash and 3 tablespoons of liquid organic fertilizer. For example, an infusion of mullein or chicken manure.
Dissolve a few drops of iodine in 3 liters of water. Pour the resulting solution into a spray bottle and spray the leaves of the seedlings. It is believed that this remedy protects plants from pests and diseases.
