Potatoes are grown in almost every summer cottage. It is difficult to find a more popular crop that is so actively used in cooking.

But to have a lot of vegetables, you have to try.

Fertilizer needs to be applied.

But not all means are suitable. For example, many recommend using ash when planting tubers.

Wood ash is a truly popular and affordable fertilizer that gardeners often use in their gardens or vegetable gardens to improve the quality and quantity of future harvests.

But it is important to remember that not all plants like this kind of feeding. In this case, you should pay attention to the most popular garden crop – potatoes. The thing is that the root crop will not be happy with ash.

As seasoned gardeners note, potatoes prefer organic fertilizers, but here we are talking about manure. It should be added in the fall or early spring, even when digging up the beds.

As for ash, it makes the soil alkaline, which disrupts the process of calcium absorption by the crop. As a result, the volume and quality of the harvest are significantly reduced.
