The pepper seedlings have grown strong and healthy and are already asking to be put in a greenhouse or open ground.
Before planting, it is worth considering several important nuances, as well as finding out what experienced gardeners throw into the holes when planting.
When to plant peppers
The plant does not like low temperatures. Cold weather can kill the pepper. Therefore, when planting in open ground, it is worth waiting for a period when the threat of frost is minimal.
For pepper, the average daily air temperature should be no less than +13 …+15 °C. Usually, optimal conditions are in May, but weather surprises are not excluded.
The seedlings are transferred to the garden bed when the plants reach 15 cm in height and have at least 6 leaves. Perhaps by this time the first flower bud will have formed on the peppers.
About 10 days before transplanting, the seedlings are hardened. The plants are taken out onto a balcony, veranda or terrace, preparing them for lower temperatures than at home. Thanks to hardening, the peppers adapt more quickly after transplanting.
What to throw in the hole
When planting pepper seedlings, add soil mixed with wood ash (100 g per plant) into the hole.
Also, at the start, plants are fertilized with compost, chicken manure or rotted manure.
