Many experienced gardeners know that diseases of the root system of tomato seedlings are very insidious: sometimes the disease does not make itself known, which is why it is not possible to take the necessary measures.

As a result, you may lose all your vegetable seedlings.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , landscape designer and agronomist, expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", believes that it is important to prevent the situation.

Why the root system of tomato seedlings may be affected by rot

As it turns out, there can be quite a few reasons, so inexperienced gardeners should be careful when working with seedlings. First of all, it is worth noting that in most cases, too young compost can be "blamed": if the fertilizer has not rotted, then it is not recommended to use it.

Also, heavy acidic soil is not suitable for tomato seedlings, so you need to prepare good soil in advance or buy ready-made mixtures.

Sometimes the reason for root rot is that the seedlings are watered too often, and the water stagnates. It is also worth remembering that tomato seedlings do not like too dense planting, so after the shoots appear, it is advisable to thin out the seedlings.
