Fruit tree seedlings are traditionally planted in the spring, but if we talk about pome crops - apple trees, pears, quince, and so on, then they take root well when planted in the fall.

We will tell you what you need to consider when planting fruit crops in spring.

The most important piece of advice that beginner gardeners usually miss is purchasing seedlings. It is best to do this in garden centers or nurseries where acclimatized crops are grown. Otherwise, it is only technical issues.

1. Having decided on a place for planting, you need to start by removing weeds, roots and other vegetation that can interfere with the young seedling. It is important to take into account such a moment as previous crops. The soil should rest if a fruit bush or tree grew in this place before.

2. Next, you need to determine the acidity of the soil and act according to the circumstances. If necessary, use lime, dolomite flour, or, conversely, peat or sawdust. It is imperative to add complex fertilizers that will provide nutrients to the young tree.

3. Choosing a location is the most important moment. The plant should have enough light or, on the contrary, shade. An important condition is protection from wind and drafts. This requirement applies to all crops without exception.

4. Only after this, prepare a hole 60-70 cm deep and wide. Before adding fertile soil with fertilizers, you need to pour in water and let it soak in. After this, add the mixture and plant the tree, spreading the roots.

5. After planting, compact the soil slightly, install supports to tie up the seedling, water, fertilize and add mulch.

All that remains is to monitor the development of the tree, water it and treat it against diseases and pests.
