Sometimes, having removed the cover that protected the rose bushes all winter, the gardener, to his chagrin, discovers that black spots have appeared on the stems, and sometimes the stems become completely dark.

According to the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , there are several reasons for this.

Among them are freezing of shoots, which occurs due to improper covering or too early opening of roses, the development of putrefactive processes and damping off, stem cancer, and others.

If you are faced with a similar problem, first make sure that it is not a dangerous disease.

If signs of the disease are detected, the bushes will have to be destroyed, and neighboring ones should be sprayed with a 1% solution of copper sulfate.

If the damage is small and not related to stem cancer, it is worth cutting it off, and applying tetracycline ointment to the wounds, then sealing them with a regular bandage.

More serious damage requires removing the blackened areas by cutting off the shoots. In this case, only sharp and disinfected tools should be used.

After the weather outside has become consistently warm, it is recommended to feed the roses using "Agricola for roses", "Humate +7 microelements", "OMU for roses" or other preparations. It will not hurt to treat with a growth stimulator ("Epin Extra" or "Zircon").
