Experienced gardeners remind us: as soon as the snow melts, you should start caring for the tulips – those that were planted in the fall.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about 3 procedures that are definitely worth taking the time to do.

1. After the snow melts, clean the flowerbed. If you covered it with mulch in the fall, it is time to get rid of the mulch material.

Thanks to this simple action, the soil will need less time to warm up and dry out. As a result, the bulbs, firstly, will definitely not rot, and secondly, will delight you with their flowering earlier.

2. If tulips are planted at a sufficient depth, short-term frosts will not harm them.

But if the bulbs have already sprouted and the sprouts have reached a height of 6-7 cm, it is worth taking care of shelter in case the temperature outside drops.

3. Often flower growers ignore such a procedure as loosening, but in the case of tulips it is mandatory to carry out.

This will provide oxygen access to the bulbs and, accordingly, help them avoid rotting. Important: you should start loosening the soil after the sprouts appear - otherwise you may accidentally touch them.
