Sometimes summer residents observe the following picture: a new season begins, the plum gradually sets fruit, and then suddenly sheds them all.
There are two main reasons why plum ovaries fall off.
Reasons for falling
1. Incorrect fertilization. There are two reasons for this: no pollinator or lack of nutrients, including boron. Yellow plums are especially capricious. They definitely need pollinators of a different variety.
2. Pests. The main enemy is the sawfly. A tiny insect pierces the skin of the ovary. The damage is unnoticeable, it seems that absolutely healthy fruits are falling off.
What to do
1. The plum is provided with a pollinator neighbor.
2. During the flowering period, the tree must be treated with preparations containing boron.
3. Treat sawflies with Aversectin, Avermectin, Fitoverm or other similar preparations.
There is one more nuance. Usually it does not lead to mass shedding of fruits. Lack of moisture is accompanied by partial shedding of the ovary. Therefore, during the period of formation and ripening, the plum must be watered.
