How to Get Rid of Earwigs in the Garden: A Clay Pot Will Help

17.03.2023 14:54

If earwigs appear in the garden only occasionally, then there is no need to worry about serious consequences.

On the contrary, the insect can be beneficial, as it destroys aphids and other pests.

But if it comes to an invasion of earwigs, then there is a risk of a serious drop in the yield of carrots, beets and cabbage.

In addition, the representative of the order Dermaptera has a negative impact on flowers.

Thus, it is necessary to fight a large number of earwigs. Fortunately, dangerous insecticides are not needed for this.

How to Make an Earwig Trap

You will need the most ordinary clay pot. The only condition is that there should be drainage holes at the bottom.

The container should be filled with wet hay and placed upside down near vulnerable garden crops.

After some time, the earwigs will climb into the pot. And then the gardener will be able to catch the uninvited "guests" of the garden bed and get rid of them without any problems.
