You can pick tasty and sweet cherries by the bucketful if you choose the right variety and remember to care for them.
First of all, you need to consider the quality of the soil. It must be fertile.
At the same time, you should not add a lot of fertilizers to the cherry tree, especially mineral ones. If the soil is oversaturated with them, then you should not expect a bountiful harvest either.
Summer residents also note that cherry trees grown on black soil produce a poorer harvest.
Soil acidity is important. Cherry does not like even a slight increase in indicators. Therefore, dolomite flour should be added in spring and autumn.
It is advisable to add calcium under the tree.
It is enough to sprinkle 10 tablespoons of eggshells ground into dust under each tree. But the product will only start working by the next season. It is recommended to repeat the procedure annually. The product can easily be replaced with mineral calcium fertilizer.
Potassium and phosphorus will also not be superfluous.
Twice per season, 1-2 glasses of ash should be scattered under the tree. This will also reduce acidity and improve nutrition.
In early spring, you can add nitrogen, but in small quantities. Any natural infusion or urea (1 tbsp. per bucket of water) will do.
After flowering, it is necessary to carry out foliar feeding with a bucket of water and 10 tablespoons of lime.
If you follow these simple rules, then every year the fruit tree will delight you with sweet and healthy berries.
