Shooting onions is a process that any gardener perceives with disappointment.
The fact is that the appearance of flower stalks often precedes a decrease in the quality of the harvest.
The bulbs are unlikely to form properly. The harvested vegetables will most likely not be suitable for long-term storage.
One of the most common reasons why onions go to seed is improper storage of planting material and refusal to process it.
However, pre-soaking the seed onions will significantly reduce the risk of bolting.
How to Soak Onions
Onion sets should be placed in water in which baking soda has been dissolved.
There is nothing complicated in preparing such a remedy. The main thing is to maintain the correct ratio of ingredients and not to use too cold or too hot liquid.
So, for one liter of moderately warm liquid component there should be one teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate.
The onion sets should lie in the resulting mixture for about 60 minutes.
After this, you can safely start planting garden crops. Most likely, there will be no problem such as bolting.
