However, there are tools, and free ones at that, that will help you defeat this enemy.
1. How to significantly reduce the number of anthills in your garden
Ants are a huge nuisance and have to be dealt with every season.
Frequent use of toxic substances is undesirable and costs some money, but there is a simple way that will reduce the number of anthills.
We will need construction waste that everyone usually throws away. We need to take small pieces of slate, plywood, wood or iron and lay them out in free places, away from tree trunks.
The area, of course, does not acquire a very aesthetic appearance, but this is not forever. For what? Ants are happy to use these shelters to build their nests.
After some time, having checked these improvised traps and having found insects there, you need to pour boiling water over the newly created anthills.
This will allow you to get rid of a significant number of pests, because this method destroys the entire family, not individual individuals. (If someone is not embarrassed by the use of chemicals, then they can be used instead of boiling water.)
If this procedure is carried out regularly, starting from the earliest spring, the number of anthills on the site will become much smaller, which means the harvest will be larger, and the chances of getting painful bites will be much smaller.
2. How to get rid of ants from your property
Every garden grows representatives of the nightshade family - tomatoes and potatoes. They are exactly what we need. For herbivores, their tops are not suitable for food, because the leaves and stems accumulate poison in large quantities. This feature will help us in the fight against ants.
The method is simple, but it takes time. First, the green part of the tomatoes or potatoes needs to be collected and dried under a canopy. For this, it is better to spread the plants in a thin layer, you can hang them in small loose bunches, and after drying, store them in a dry place until next year or use them immediately.
The recipe is simple: put the tops in a metal bucket and brew them with boiling water. The solution must be quite concentrated! The cooled and strained liquid must be sprayed onto anthills, as well as trees and bushes (but only if there are no ripe fruits yet) that are located nearby.
Warning! The infusion is very poisonous! To avoid skin burns, spray it only in closed clothing, protective glasses, gloves, a mask and a headdress.
Ants are terribly afraid of this product and literally run away from the treated area.
