Chinese farmers have developed their own method of growing potatoes, which dramatically increases yields.
The essence of the method is to increase the number of roots on which tubers are formed.
In addition, with this method you don't have to worry about pests and hilling. It is a particularly valuable option for owners of small plots.
Chinese Method of Growing Potatoes
Small tubers are used for planting. A cut is made in the center of each fruit so that the shape of the potato resembles an hourglass. The cut is treated with ash so that the tuber does not rot.
As for the planting hole, its dimensions are the same as for a tree seedling: 50 cm deep and 80 cm wide. The bottom is sprinkled with compost, ash and superphosphate. Sprouted tubers are planted, covered with soil by 10 cm and watered well.
When the bush reaches 15 cm in height, soil is poured onto it, leaving only 5 cm of the plant on the surface. Compost is distributed between the stems.
The procedure is repeated as the tops grow. As a result, the 50-centimeter hole should be completely filled with soil. The bed is watered on average once a week and regularly loosened, getting rid of weeds.
