How to protect tomatoes from caterpillars: effective prevention

02.03.2023 16:24

The voracious caterpillars, the offspring of whitefly butterflies, are capable of destroying an entire crop of lovingly grown tomatoes.

You can tell that your garden beds have been treacherously attacked by the blackened, curled and dried leaves, because it is from this part of the plants that the pests begin their meal.

After the foliage is finished, the caterpillars move on to the fruits.

To avoid having to devote all your energy to fighting caterpillars, it is worth taking preventive measures in advance.

First, do not forget to dig up the soil before the onset of winter, and in the spring pour boiling water over it and be sure to deeply loosen the soil between the beds.

Secondly, be sure to fight weeds and also do not allow the plantings to become too dense.

Thirdly, the vents and other openings in the greenhouse must be covered with gauze.

Finally, fourthly, do not refuse to use traps for caterpillars, and during the egg-laying period use “Lepidocid” and “Bioxibacillin”.
