What do curled leaves on tomatoes indicate: here's what the problem is

Often, summer residents face a problem: tomato leaves suddenly begin to curl.

Often in such cases, inexperienced gardeners actively water and feed the plants. But this strategy is not the most correct in this case.

Why do leaves curl?

The most common reason is high temperature and scorching sun rays. Tomatoes thus protect themselves from moisture evaporation and try to save themselves from excessive sun exposure.

As experienced gardeners explained, pinched spiral leaves retain moisture better. Thus, this is a natural reaction that does not promise anything dangerous for the future harvest. This is how plants adapt to the heat.

There is no particular sense in pouring water and adding fertilizers. You can soften the sunstroke for tomatoes. For example, in hot weather you can cover the greenhouse with a light cloth or paint it with lime.

In both cases, the sun's rays will be reflected, creating a light partial shade and making the plantings more comfortable.
