Weeds are a nuisance to many gardeners and vegetable growers who try to rid their beds of them throughout the season.
Their presence affects the development of cultivated plants. Weeds take away nutrition from plantings and can attract pests.
Most summer residents fight weeds the old-fashioned way, weeding the beds or simply pulling out the mighty plants by the roots.
Smart gardeners do it differently. They use a simple solution that helps get rid of weeds.
Dissolve 1 tbsp. of salt in a liter of vinegar (9%), then add 1 tsp. of dishwashing detergent. Shake the solution well, then pour into a spray bottle.
The resulting mixture is sprayed between the rows where the weeds grow. But the solution must not get on the plantings. In a few days the weeds will die. The soil will not become salty, and the acidity will not increase significantly.
