How to protect seedlings from rot and pests: a couple of simple tips

28.02.2023 09:54

Any summer resident may encounter problems when growing various fruit crops.

The most common problems are an invasion of insect pests or the formation of rot, which leads to the death of seedlings.

However, if you apply the simple rules that will be discussed below, the risk of such troubles is reduced to zero.

1. Choose seeds for planting responsibly. To avoid wasting your pitchforks and time, avoid using expired or old seeds.

2. Try not to plant plants in close proximity to each other.

Many crops need “personal space”, and the shadow from closely planted plants worsens their growth and development.

3. If you notice signs of any disease on one of the seedlings, do not hesitate - quickly remove the diseased plant from its healthy counterparts.

To prevent infection, experienced gardeners use separate containers when growing seedlings - this way you can avoid contact "through the soil".
