Zucchini is an unpretentious crop that produces a rich harvest every year.
However, there are still some difficulties when growing the plant, and one of them is the delay in the emergence of seedlings.
Squash seeds generally germinate quickly, but the rate of germination is affected by ambient temperature.
If it is stable during the day and does not drop below 12-15 degrees at night, then you don’t have to worry – the zucchini will sprout well.
When using the sprout soaking procedure, you won't have to wait long. In the case of sowing dry seeds, the timing of the first shoots is shifted to 5-10 days. If the shoots do not appear during this time, you will have to replant.
Reasons for lack of germination
- Excessive moisture can affect the emergence of seedlings: the soil should be only slightly moist.
- Dry soil will also negatively affect the similarity. Crops are covered with film or plastic bottles, creating mini-greenhouses.
- Germination may be affected by sowing dry seeds. Some of them may simply not open the shell.
- Cold soil will slow down germination, and frost will certainly destroy future seedlings.
- Last year's seeds should not be used for sowing.
- Zucchini will only grow well in breathable and fertile soil – heavy soil is not for them.
Feeding zucchini

You can plant the seeds in a compost heap and not worry that the zucchini will be uncomfortable. They will please you with the richest possible harvest.
