Among the many pests of garden crops, bugs have a special place. Everyone is familiar with the disgusting taste of berries that this insect has visited.
Let's figure out what to do if these pests appear in your raspberry patch, what caused them to appear, and what to expect from them in the future.
Why do bedbugs appear?
Adults live up to two years and spend the winter in fallen leaves, weeds and other debris; they can migrate from the forest, from neighbors or end up on the site along with seedlings.
Signs of raspberry damage
In addition to the well-known smell, after the appearance of bedbugs, the berries may wrinkle and dry out if they are bitten by the pest, and a yellow (white) crust will appear in this place.
Spots appear on the leaves, the greenery dries out and turns yellow, and if there is a heavy infestation of bugs, the bush stops bearing fruit and dies.
Birds cannot be relied upon to control pests.
How to fight
1. It is necessary to cultivate the soil in a timely manner, fight weeds and carry out other preventive measures.
2. Don't be disdainful of manual collection of pests, similar to how Colorado beetles are collected.
3. To treat raspberries, use an aqueous solution of mustard (1 part mustard to 10 parts water). Good results are obtained by treating with an infusion of onion peel (1:2). The mixture is infused in water for 1 week, diluted with water 1:4.
Another way is to prepare an infusion of caraway seeds (300 g per 8 l of water). Bedbugs do not like the smell of tar soap (1 bar is grated and dissolved in 5 l of water).
Biological preparations are also used.
This could be beauverin or bitoxibacillin, which are used according to the instructions and taking into account weather conditions.
Chemical preparations "Karbofos", "Fufanon", "Aktellik" and others are used only outside the flowering and fruiting period. It is worth remembering that insecticides can also harm beneficial insects.
