Sometimes dark, scabby spots appear on apricots instead of their rosy sides. Few gardeners know what this is.
Meanwhile, a nasty infection has visited the garden. And the spoiled appearance of the fruit is just a "slight fright".
What causes "dirty" spotting?
Such trouble is the result of fungal activity. Often it is either a manifestation of moniliosis or gray fruit rot.
Both infections attack trees during the flowering period. The same problem is sometimes caused by scab, bacterial spot and other "bad apples" that are guaranteed to rage in summer gardens.
As a rule, the problem is most dangerous for young shoots and fruits.
How to remove scab
Each infection will have its own weapon.
- Scab is removed with "Kaptan-50" or "Topsin-M".
- "Skor", "Horus", "Rayok" are suitable against moniliosis.
- Gray rot and bacteriosis are treated with Bordeaux mixture or copper sulfate.
How to prevent the problem
It is not difficult to prevent everything, but you will have to tinker. If you accurately determine the type of fungus, the apricot fruits will remain clean. So:
- When watering a tree, do not allow the soil to become over-moistened.
- It is important to cut out dry shoots on the trunks in a timely manner.
- There should be no weeds at the base of the apricot tree.
- It is necessary to regularly loosen the tree trunk circle.
- Fallen leaves should be collected and disposed of in the fall.
- In order to prevent the disease from progressing, you need to periodically inspect the leaves, branches and shoots, identifying the first signs of damage.
- In spring, the tree crown requires treatment. You can spray it with a solution of Bordeaux mixture (3%).
