Summer residents who decide to grow strawberries on their plots have to literally fight for the harvest.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh named one of the main pests that can be found on strawberries and spoke about effective methods of combating it.

Well, we are talking about none other than a slug.

The food of these gastropods is berries, and if there are none, then leaves.

Many gardeners who want to get rid of slugs from their plots sprinkle their beds with ash or lime, but in the case of strawberries this is not the best option.

The whole point is that these preparations will deacidify the soil, and the crop will not like this.

Instead, professional plant growers recommend using specially created preparations for this purpose, such as “Ulicid” – it is based on sugar and hops, which will serve as bait for pests, and mustard and pepper will kill them.

Alternatively, use mechanical collection of mollusks. Beer is suitable as bait - it is better to take dark beer.
