Every gardener, over many years of practice, probably has his own method of fighting snails. They are dangerous pests.
Along with slugs, they can destroy young seedlings by eating out the stems and centers of plant rosettes.
But for organic farmers, it is important to fight them without chemicals.
1. Shell rock
A common method of control among gardeners is the use of eggshell crumbs. But where can you get so much of it?
But the shell can be collected on the bank of any river in early spring. It is crushed, sprinkled on the beds and around the plants.
This prickly material will drive away the pest, as it is uncomfortable for its delicate body.
2. Mulch
An excellent option for mulching cabbage plantings is common nettle.
This grass can be easily cut in forests, plantings and rivers. It is hot in itself and can injure the pest-naked. Therefore, it will avoid such "acquaintance".
Nettle is also a source of microelements, as it contains nitrogen, calcium, and potassium, which are beneficial for plants.
3. Trap
Few people don't have old wood on their plot. All kinds of boards can be placed on the ridges.
Since slugs are nocturnal pests and they rest during the day, they will move under the boards to hide from the scorching rays of the sun. They can be easily collected there.
