What to use instead of manure on the site: a worthy replacement

Manure is often used as an effective fertilizer, but it must be admitted that it is not without its drawbacks.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminds us: in fresh form, such an additive will not bring any benefit, but, on the contrary, will harm plants.

It takes a long time for manure to rot, and the price, frankly speaking, is steep.

An equivalent replacement for such fertilizer would be compost.

In terms of its properties, it is not inferior to manure, and, despite the fact that its preparation also takes time, any gardener can cope with this task.

Another plus is that to obtain high-quality compost, you can use almost all organic waste, with rare exceptions.

All that is required of you is to choose a suitable place measuring 1x1 m or 2x1 m.

A compost heap can be formed either directly on the ground or on a bedding layer of sawdust or straw.

After the tops, fruit and vegetable peelings, tea leaves, coffee grounds, sour milk, etc. have taken their place, sprinkle the future compost with straw or sawdust, and throw peat or soil on top.

As the pile dries out, it is worth moistening it by pouring water on top, and by the next season you will have an effective fertilizer on your hands.
