Like any vegetable crop, eggplants have recommended sowing times, which, in turn, determine the yield.

The abundance of varieties can be confusing. We will tell you how to determine the sowing date of the crop in the 2023 summer cottage season without making a mistake.

According to general recommendations, the time for sowing most vegetable seedlings is late winter or early March. And to determine the timing of sowing seeds, you need to pay attention to a couple of details.

1. Time for transplanting seedlings

Early ripening eggplants are transplanted on the 60th day. Mid-season ones closer to the 70th. Late ripening ones in the period from the 70th to the 90th day. The time is counted from the date of emergence.

2. Climate conditions

You should rather focus on the weather. The daytime temperature at the time of planting seedlings should be stable within 23-25 degrees Celsius. And the nighttime temperature should not be lower than 15 with a plus sign. The climate in the greenhouse is more suitable for eggplants.

3. Lunar calendar

This feature is taken into account when planting, pruning and other gardening and field work. It is necessary to follow the recommendations of the gardener's and vegetable grower's calendar.

But these data do not always coincide. Therefore, you can calculate the required time by choosing the appropriate variety and studying its features.

Then, from the recommended planting date in a particular region, you need to subtract the time for growing seedlings, 8-10 days for seed germination, and 3-5 days for preparation.

In this way, you can calculate the right day for sowing seeds so that the seedlings do not overstay in the apartment.
