The scourge of all summer residents is late blight, a harmful microorganism that causes a fungal disease of plants belonging to the nightshade family.
In order not to lose the harvest in case of infection, the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises to observe 3 main conditions for the fight and prevention of late blight.
1. Make sure that the plants have enough nutrition.
Proper mineral nutrition is the key to strong immunity of cultivated crops, so you should not allow a deficiency of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
2. Fight insect pests
Since all kinds of parasites are carriers of not only late blight, but also other diseases, you should not allow them to roam around your property with impunity.
A mosquito fumigator turned on overnight will help to destroy whiteflies that have run amok in the greenhouse.
Another effective remedy is tar soap, which, unlike “Aktara”, does not harm bushes with ripened fruits.
3. Control the humidity in the greenhouse
Water the plants early in the morning – this way the leaves and soil will dry out by nightfall. Don’t forget to mulch the plantings using dry straw or sawdust soaked in Fitosporin, and also ventilate the greenhouse.
