In order to cope with the weeds that have raged on the plot, summer residents have two options - use folk methods or turn to herbicides for help.
An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about what kind of preparations are specially developed to combat grass and whether they can harm cultivated plants.
1. If we are talking about non-selective herbicides, then they are capable of destroying any plants they come into contact with.
The active ingredient, glyphosate, does not accumulate in the soil and has no effect on the seeds present there.
After treatment with glyphosate, crops can be sown within 3 days.
Herbicides of non-selective action should be used when it is necessary to eradicate weeds in an overgrown large area - for example, a potato field or lawn. Treatment should be carried out during the vegetation period of weeds, when you see that the plant appears above the ground.
2. There are also herbicides of selective or selective action.
For example, after treatment with a selective herbicide intended for potatoes, all weeds will disappear from the area, but the potatoes themselves will not be damaged.
The treatment is carried out only before the potato shoots emerge. Its effect will last for about a month, and the weeds that appear after will be weak and sparse.
