You can find a lot of information in various sources about how to form a money tree (crassula).

And in most cases, recommendations are given specifically for tree formation.

But what to do if you want to have a pot with a lush green bush of crassula on your windowsill?

Creating a bush

Crassula is very loyal to any experiments of its owner. And it will not be difficult to make a compact bush out of it. The main thing is to approach the process responsibly.

Method one

In order for the crassula to grow into a tree, wait until it grows in height to the size that the trunk should be. As a rule, this is 15-20 cm. Then pinch the top, causing branching.

A new shoot grows from each leaf axil after pinching. Thus, 2 branches are formed at the pinching point. They are also grown to the required length and pinched.

To form a bush from one plant, it is enough to pinch the tops more often than recommended when forming a tree. For example, every two pairs of leaves.

However, it should be remembered that with such formation, a lush crown will grow and the trunk may not withstand the load.

It is important to pinch the shoots so that the bush branches evenly in different directions. This will prevent the plant from overweighting to one side. Otherwise, the plant will fall over on its side. By the way, this also applies to growing a tree.

Method two

There is a quick way to get a lush bush. To do this, take a wide pot and place several cuttings in it at a small distance from each other. Usually, after pruning the fat woman, there are many tops left, which are ideal for this purpose.

In this case, you also need to pinch the tops in time, provoking branching.

It would be good if there was a mini-tree in the center, and smaller plants would frame it on the sides, covering the soil in the pot and the exposed bottom of the trunk.

When creating a bush, it is important to remember that pinching must be done in time. Over time, the lower part of the trunk becomes woody.

If you prune the plant when the trunk has already begun to lignify, it will not produce uniform growth of branches. Yes, one or two dormant buds may awaken on it, but it will not look as beautiful.
