Florists who have already planted petunia seeds for seedlings do not need to be told what it is.
If earlier the seeds had to be laid out almost with tweezers, now the chances of success of the event will increase significantly. Here are some rules for sowing your favorite flower.
How to sow petunia seeds
It is no exaggeration to say that the plant's seeds are very small. This causes difficulties. They can lie very thickly, you can overdo it with embedding in the soil, and as a result, only a few will sprout.
Advice one
The main thing in this matter is not the size of the seeds, but the time of planting. Ampelous petunias are sown in January, and other varieties can wait until February or even March.
Tip two
The seeds do not need to be buried, but left on moist soil, without sprinkling anything at all. It will be enough to cover the container with film or put it under glass to maintain suitable humidity and temperature conditions in the container. The container is left in a room with a temperature of 23-25 degrees Celsius. The easiest way is to collect snow in the garden, put it in a container in a layer of up to 2-3 cm and sow the seeds on the snow, covering the container with film.
Tip three
Petunia tolerates drought well, so when caring for the seedlings, do not mindlessly pour water. The seedlings will rot or get sick rather than start growing more actively.
Tip number four
Having sown seeds in February or March, do not forget about additional illumination, otherwise the seedlings will stretch out. Petunias are illuminated until April.
Tip number five
This mistake is made by all beginners. As soon as the seeds hatch and sprouts appear, you cannot immediately remove the film or other cover. It is important to avoid a sharp change in air humidity and temperature. Young greens can dry out very quickly because of this. Therefore, the cover is removed gradually so that the seedlings get used to the new conditions.
