The hay bacillus, known to all summer residents, did not get its name for nothing.

As the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained, such a name is due to the fact that the accumulative cultures of this microorganism are obtained from hay extract.

In this regard, it is possible to isolate hay bacillus at home.

To do this, you will need to finely chop 250 g of hay made from mixed grasses and pour 2 liters of settled water over it.

Add half a teaspoon of chalk here – this way you can create a slightly alkaline environment that will promote the growth of this type of bacteria.

Once the preparation is finished, it needs to be boiled for 30 minutes - during this time, the nutrients will pass into the solution, and most microorganisms will die - with the exception, of course, of the hay bacillus.

All that remains is to pour the decoction into a sterile jar. You can use another container – the main thing is that the area of contact between the liquid and the air is as large as possible.

Cover the container with a lid (loosely) or a simple paper napkin and place it in a dark place where the temperature is approximately +25-28 degrees.

After a couple of days, you will see a light film forming on the surface of the liquid – these are live hay bacillus bacteria.
