Experienced gardeners know that the soil for planting beets is usually prepared in late autumn, which allows the garden to be saturated with important chemical elements.

If for some reason you forgot to do this, you can carry out the procedure in the spring.

With the right approach, you will be able to grow a decent beet crop. First of all, it is worth remembering that the root crop requires sufficient lighting, so select a plot of land in the garden that meets this condition.

What is the best way to prepare a bed for root crops?

The greatest value is represented by high-quality organic fertilizers, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , landscape designer and agronomist, expert of the online publication "BelNovosti". Therefore, we add three kilograms of humus or prepared compost per square meter.

Fresh manure should not be added, otherwise the root crops may be destroyed.

It would also be a good idea to add 15 grams of potassium chloride and ammonium nitrate to the same area. Don't forget to add superphosphate: 30 grams per square meter will be enough.

If you prepare the soil in this way, the root crop will grow sweet and bright red.
