Many gardeners have to grow potatoes in the same place year after year, but their crop yields do not suffer much.

The secret is in agricultural technology, which allows you to bypass even the recommendations of crop rotation, without which it seems you can’t do anything in the garden. Let’s try to figure it out.

So, ideally, you have two plots for planting potatoes: one "walks" and the second "works", then swapped. For some, this is an unaffordable luxury, especially when you need to fit a house, garage, bathhouse, gazebo, garden, vegetable garden, hammock and at least one more flowerbed on 6 acres.

In this case, you need to act according to the following plan.

Firstly, one and a half to two weeks before harvesting the potatoes, their tops are mown down and removed.

Secondly, after harvesting, the soil where the potatoes grew must be treated with a biofungicide, and this must be done before the onset of cold weather, since many preparations lose their effective properties at temperatures of 10-15 degrees Celsius.

Thirdly, after harvesting and tilling the soil, green manure is sown. In this case, oats, mustard or a mixture of them are used.

At the end of autumn, the green manure shoots are mowed and dug into the soil – this will help disinfect the soil, control pests and increase fertility.

And finally, ash and humus are added during digging if the soil is acidic. Experienced gardeners have found that the ideal acidity level for growing potatoes is 5.0-5.5. At an acidity of 6.5-7, potato tubers are affected by wireworm and scab.

In this case, the harvest will not be affected by pests and diseases, nor by nutrient imbalances.
