An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke in detail about the timing and technology of sowing this crop.
Corn can be sown when the soil temperature at a depth of 10 cm reaches +12 degrees.
This indicator varies in different regions and is usually observed in late April – mid-May.
Important: before placing the seeds in the soil, they must be pre-warmed (approximately 5 days at a temperature of +35 degrees).
To speed up germination, soak the seed in warm water. It should lie in such an improvised bath for a day.
A day before sowing, you will have to loosen the area. If necessary, scatter ammonium nitrate on the beds.
When forming furrows, remember that their depth should be 7 cm, while the distance between rows should be 60 cm, and between plants – 40 cm.
All that remains is to distribute the seed material and cover it with soil, after which the first shoots will not take long to appear.
