Manure is a well-known type of organic fertilizer, which, as gardeners note, is not always convenient to use.

Fresh feces should not be added to the soil, and it will take at least 6 months for the manure to thoroughly mature.

Sometimes it is more useful and profitable to replace manure with free analogues that can be found in the garden. Among them are compost and green manure.

Compost

The fertilizer is as popular as manure, and you can make it yourself without much effort.

Compost contains many nutrients and humus. After application, compost starts working: improves soil structure, regulates acidity.

To get compost, you don't need much effort and special conditions. Waste is usually stored in wooden boxes with removable walls, the bottom is covered with straw or sawdust, organic matter can be placed directly on the ground. Grass and tops, animal feces are suitable for compost.

Green manure

Annuals that quickly gain green mass are planted as organic fertilizers. 14-18 days after planting, green manure can be mowed and dug into the ground.

In spring, green manure is dug in about 3 weeks before planting the main crop. In summer, mustard and phacelia are planted between the beds, which attract honey plants and repel dangerous pests.

Green manure can be added to compost, mixed with peat, manure, kitchen waste. Thus, by the new season you will be able to get a high-quality fertilizer that is in no way inferior to manure.
