In the next few weeks, gardeners will be concerned about seed germination and the condition of future shoots.

If the seeds are simply buried under a thin layer of soil, you shouldn't count on a harvest. Only one trick can reduce the risk: preliminary germination.

Let's figure out how to carry out this procedure according to all the rules.

Tip #1

Not every plant needs stratification – soaking and keeping in the cold. For example, all heat-loving crops require high temperatures for germination – 25-28 degrees Celsius. Tomatoes, cucumbers and pumpkins are germinated within the range of 20-23 degrees. A decrease to +18 – and the shoots will not appear soon.

Tip #2

It is not enough to germinate the seeds, they need to be placed in suitable soil. First of all, it should be loose and drained. The seeds are planted in well-moistened soil.

Tip #3

In addition to soil moisture, the air humidity indicator is important. Do not allow the soil layer to dry out to a depth of 1-1.5 cm. Watering is carried out from a spray bottle or a teaspoon. To maintain the appropriate air humidity, mini-greenhouses are equipped.

Once the shoots appear, the temperature is reduced from +28 to 18-20 degrees Celsius, opening the cover.

And finally. Experienced gardeners do not advise rushing with sowing, and all because the short daylight hours leave their mark on the development and growth of seedlings. To avoid stretching of seedlings and overexposure, it is better to sow within the timeframe recommended by the seed manufacturer.
