To harvest early so-called delicate crops like peppers, sowing seeds for seedlings has to be done in January.
Some gardeners believe that all this is a waste of time: the seedlings will either sit in the pot for too long, or will stretch out due to lack of sunlight, or nothing will sprout at all.
All these are echoes of the past, when there were no special lamps or the ability to prepare seeds for sowing.
Garden without hassle
When planning to plant pepper seedlings for an early harvest, you need to remember that there will be another 70-90 days before the seedlings are transplanted. Therefore, this manipulation is justified only for late and mid-season varieties.
It is necessary to take into account the climatic features, growing conditions after transplantation - open ground or greenhouse, of course, the characteristics of the variety and the quality of the seeds.
Preparing seeds for planting
You can safely prepare seeds for planting that have been lying around since last year or even the year before. The average shelf life is 3-4 years if the right conditions are met.
1. Store seeds. Many manufacturers cover the seeds with a special composition. Such samples do not need to be soaked. These are seeds prepared for sowing.
2. It is better to soak home-grown seeds, store-bought untreated seeds, and seeds of dubious origin for 30 minutes in a biofungicide solution or garlic infusion (2-3 cloves per 100 ml of water).
After soaking
The seeds are placed on a damp cloth and after germination they are sown in the soil. Until the sprouts appear, the seeds are kept in a room with an air temperature of 25-27 degrees Celsius.
