Summer residents claim that eggplants are big fans of fertile soil and other fertilizers.

Without this, you can't count on abundance. We'll tell you how many times you absolutely must feed this crop, and when the mandatory procedures are carried out.

During the entire season, eggplants are fed 5-6 times, with only 2 of them occurring during the period of growing seedlings.

Feeding seedlings

So, the first feeding is carried out after the first leaf appears.

After 10-14 days, you can add the second portion of nutritional supplements.

Fertilizing after transplantation

After the seedlings have moved to their permanent place of residence - a greenhouse or open ground, they will need 3-4 more mandatory feedings.

1. Two weeks after transplantation, add:

  • ammonium nitrate (25 g) or urea (30 g);
  • potassium sulfate (15-20 g);
  • superphosphate (30-40 g).

The preparations are dissolved in 10 liters of water and applied under the root.

You can add an infusion of chicken manure, dung or grass.

2. During the budding period, the following fertilizing is carried out. Nitrogen is introduced in smaller quantities. The emphasis is on potassium and phosphorus.

To do this, dissolve 1 tbsp. of potassium sulfate in 10 liters of water and use it for watering. Then loosen the soil and add superphosphate granules (0.5 tsp. per bush), and then work it into the soil.

From organic matter, wood ash is added, in dry or liquid form.

3. As soon as the first ovary appears, add phosphorus and potassium. To do this, dissolve 20 g of potassium sulfate and 30-40 g of superphosphate in 10 liters of water. Consumption is 1 liter per bush.

Potassium-containing additives are added from organic matter, for example, fertilizer made from the peels of two or three bananas.

4. 3-4 weeks before the end of fruiting in the southern regions, final feeding is carried out if the bushes continue to bear fruit.

To do this, 40 g of superphosphate is dissolved in 10 liters of water and 1 glass of solution is poured under each bush. From organic matter, herbal or yeast infusion is used.
