Anyone can grow good eggplant seedlings, but to do this you need to listen to the advice of experienced gardeners.

First of all, you need to familiarize yourself with the specific features of this vegetable. Only after that can you start sowing seeds.

Recommendations were shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", landscape designer and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Preparatory work

Before sowing, seeds must be prepared. Experts say that seeds can only germinate at a temperature of 25 degrees. This procedure can be accelerated by soaking.

In this case, everything will depend only on the time frame. Seeds that have already undergone the soaking process love high temperatures.

How to sow seeds for seedlings

First of all, gardeners need to take care of the temperature regime. The room temperature should be about 25 degrees. In order for the seeds to sprout, they are usually placed near the radiator.

Immediately after planting, you also need to regularly spray the soil. This will ensure that it always remains moist.

After the first sprouts appear, you can move the seedlings to a cool place. If you did everything correctly, the first sprouts will begin to appear in a week. If the room is very warm, the sprouts will begin to stretch upwards.

It is recommended to water the seedlings at least once a week. Beginning gardeners overwater the seedlings, but this is not recommended.

Excessive moisture has a negative effect on growth. Root system diseases may also appear.

What kind of soil is needed for seedlings

Before sowing seeds, it is necessary to prepare the soil. The simplest option is to buy a ready-made substrate.

Garden stores sell soil that is designed for nightshades. It contains all the necessary components that are needed for rapid growth.

Petunia soil is also an ideal option. Some gardeners prefer to mix the substrate themselves.

To prepare the substrate yourself, you will need to take: 50% humus, 25% peat and 25% sawdust. After that, all components are thoroughly mixed.

Features of sowing in peat tablets

Gardeners actively use peat tablets for sowing seedlings. If you plan to grow eggplants, it is better to choose tablets with a diameter of 40 millimeters. This is quite enough for normal growth of seedlings.

Peat tablets are first moistened and then a hole is made with a pencil. After this, the seeds are carefully deepened and covered with soil. Peat tablets can be placed in a plastic container or a small container. After this, the structure is placed in a warm place.

How to Feed Eggplant Seedlings

If you used ready-made substrates for growing seedlings, then feeding in this case is not required. However, novice gardeners do not always manage to create ideal conditions for growth. If the seedlings are stressed, then in this case you need to feed the seedlings.

The first feeding should be done after several leaves appear on the plant. The best choice would be a nitrophoska solution. If you prefer organic farming, then in this case you can use organic fertilizers.
